Mental Health of Ukrainians in Times of War
Mental Health of Ukrainians in Times of War
Have you ever thought about how war changes our perception of the world and impacts the mental health of every one of us? How does it affect the lives of all Ukrainians?
Last December, our Center hosted a special event called YellowBlue. It brought together Ukrainian and international experts to discuss how the war influences people’s minds and hearts, as well as the support Ukrainians need most in these challenging times.
Why the name of
the event is YellowBlue?
It’s not just because of our national flag. The pronunciation of “Yellow Blue” in English sounds very similar to the Ukrainian phrase “Ya liubliu,” meaning “I love you.” For us, this project is all about love — love for yourself and others, for the world, and for peace. Since the beginning of the war, we’ve felt an incredible wave of support and love. YellowBlue is not only a chance to share our work but also to unite more people, spreading global healing and compassion.
The goal of the YellowBlue initiative
is to create a space where anyone can find help, restore their inner strength, and learn how to cope with psychological challenges caused by trauma and humanitarian crisis.
What did we discuss at the event?
🔹 We explored how the war has changed people’s lives, what losses they’ve experienced, and the transformations happening in their minds.
🔹 We sought answers to questions such as: how to overcome grief, restore emotional balance, and create the conditions for psychological healing amidst crisis.
🔹 We focused on relationships during wartime and the significant role women played in them.
🔹 We looked at Ukrainian folklore and traditions as sources of resilience and spirituality.
🔹 We emphasized the importance of maintaining mental health as a key factor in achieving victory.

What’s next?
YellowBlue has become a new tradition for our Center, and this year we will hold another event focused on the mental health of Ukrainians during the war. It will take place on December 7th at 7:00 pm Kyiv time, and we can’t wait to see you there. Your participation will help Ukrainians maintain their mental health, find the inner resources needed for recovery, and create new collaborative projects to promote compassion globally. Let us know in the comments if you’d like to get involved, and we’ll keep you updated on all the news 💛💙
